International Anti Corruption Academy (IACA ) Launched

The International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA), a joint venture undertaken by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), Austria and others, opened its doors on Thursday. Based in Laxenburg, Austria, the school is designed to educate public and private entities on the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and train them in its applications. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in his opening address: “Across the world, intolerance of corruption is growing. The establishment of this Academy responds not only to this increasing sense of outrage and injustice, but also to an urgent need to train the experts we need to conquer this global menace. The Academy will build a culture of integrity. It will nurture a new generation of leaders in the public and private sectors – a global network of talented, like-minded professionals. Sixth Annual ACAMS Anti-Money Laundering & Counter-Terrorism Financing Conference

The Sixth Annual ACAMS Anti-Money Laundering & Counter-Terrorism Financing Conference took place in Amsterdam from 7 – 8 June 2010. The conference aimed to raise awareness among participants of the most advanced money laundering and fraud schemes and update the audience on the latest European and International Anti-Money Laundering Regulations, and in particular the Third EU Directive. 250 participants from the financial sector attended. Jos de Wit and Thomas Kerscher gave presentations on behalf of the Anti Corruption Network on best practices in combatting corruption and bribery. Aid Transparency and Development Finance conference

On March 22, 2010 the AidData team is holding an Aid Transparency and Development Finance Conference at University College in Oxford, UK to make its aid database available to the public for the first time. The conference will continue over three days which will include presentations and panel discussions featuring many leading development practioners, researchers, and advocates. Confirmed presenters include Stephen Knack from the World Bank, Homi Kharas from the Brookings Institute, and Ngaire Woods of University College.
